I got 3x the amount written on the Agatha Christie that I wanted today, so I think that's the rough draft done. I like to leave time before editing, and I may watch the Who episode one more time to make sure I didn't make any embarrasing mistakes. It's what I wanted, but now I'm afraid it will be a boring read. Unless someone's read her autobiography, which is so perfect for me to be reading and writing about, I can't believe it.

I took a break and watched the new Once Upon a Time. I loved parts while laughing meanly at others. So a fun time was had by all. As some of you may notice when you get up tomorrow, I got to a lot of journals tonight, so yay! I feel like we just started a new school or something. There are enough people in this meme to be a class room's worth, lol. But are we the class of 2016 or 2020?

I took a break from leaving comments in friend's journals by watching a little more television. My choice was the next Daredevil episode in my review lineup. I'll be extra nice and put the next with spoiler behind a cut. This is the part where I scream.

So, I'm supposed to leave in twenty minutes to get a massage I desperately need because my back and neck are messed up from massaging other people. But I woke up depressed and stressed, and I know if I go in like this, I will just lay there unhappy the whole time. And my friend who's giving it is having his own problems and doesn't need my bad energy added to his own. So, here I am venting....

It's my day off. I have been sitting here trying to write the first of two reviews I need to get done today. Unfortunately, I keep getting distracted by Tumblr. A week ago, I never went there. But I started three, yes, THREE new feeds for my new tv interests, and the reviews and banners that go with them, and now I'm addicted. It's that easy.

For me anyway, because a month ago, I had no life outside my massage job.

Now, I am a three fandom, multiform cybernautic being, bent on taking over the world! Mawahahahahaha!

Hey all!

So, I've been meditating daily, for small amounts of time, for a few months now. I use mantras and basic pranayama. That's where you exhale, inhale, hold, exhale, hold, inhale, etc. You think the mantras to time the breaths. Let me say, it really has made me feel calmer and more in control. If I am tired from lack of sleep, a couple of minutes can refresh me. It's so ubelievable, that only practice will prove it to you.

It's what's given me the confidence and fortitude to come back here, and post regular to [livejournal.com profile] terror_scifi

And yesterday, it let me keep my cool when I got pulled over for speeding. I was so polite to the officer, he let me go with a warning. I'm very thankful.

Sorry to sound like a proselytising infobot, but I wanted to share something really positive today. Cheers!

It's been a week since the VDay/Pres Day three-day triple double shift work weekend and I am just now feeling human again. I think it's as much lack of sleep as overwork. But I've had my massage and a day off sometime last week. The weather here turned into spring yesterday, which also helped. I finally got caught up on my reviews for [livejournal.com profile] terror_scifi so yay! And I finally did some work on my Doctor Who fics due next month. I love being productive.

Over the weekend, I had a self-soothing marathon with two Rob Lowe shows currently airing - The Grinder (30 min comedy) and You, Me, and the Apocalypse (60 min dramedy). I love both of them for completely different reasons. Finding new shows always puts me in a good mood. Now, back to the grind....

My icon is what I looked like by the time I got home tonight, dangerously close to a sugar crash. But some food, tea, and the new episode of Rebels has me back in a good mood. I don't have to go back to work until Friday and I'm so glad. Because of Valentine's Day, this is our busiest weekend at the massage office. Which means double shifts and so many stressed people trying to pretend they're not fighting with their loved ones. It's intense.

My True Blood icon is in honor of the wait that is killing me for the new season. I am horribly behind on OUAT. Haven't watched TV in weeks, except for my Rachel Maddow. Been reading and writing like a fiend.

As promised, I have reccs for excellent gay fiction - mystery with strong romantic plotline - The Adrien English Series by Josh Lanyon. Fatal Shadows, the first of five.

The murder mysteries are fabulous, and the over-all romantic arc is very real and has a very satisfying conclusion. There is only one pov character, first person narration (It took me a minute, but I finally got used to all that) - Adrien, a book store owner and mystery writer that becomes a murder suspect. He is investigated by super hot and beefy cop, Jake Riordan. I could not put the books down! However, I should mention I haven't read the third one as I bought the fourth by mistake and didn't realize for several chapters. Shrug. Thanks to Amazon reviews, I know what happens. Not to spoil, but there's a reason I'm haven't read it yet.

I would recc Lanyon's book on how to write m/m fiction but it seems to be out of print and the used copies on Amazon are outrageously priced.

On my own writing front, I am up to 33,000 words on my novella. My goal is 45,000 words and to be done with both drafts, ready to send off by June 30. (That's my fortieth birthday.) So, I think things are looking pretty good.

Petition: 1 Million Against Amendment One

There are numerous reasons why it is important to repeal Amendment 1 (which states that 'Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State' of NC):

1) Because civil unions between one man and one woman will benefit NC

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Because equality cannot be given - it must be earned. Numerous laws have been overthrown, and the sense of community that was created in overturning those unfair laws was profound (enough to start countries and expand nations). Our only hope is that repealing Amendment 1 will be the first stepping stone on the path to a new era in the US, much in the same way that the Jim Crow laws being overturned paved the way for Martin Luther King and Barack Obama.

As I type this, I am literally seething with anger. North Carolina, my chosen home state, has, according to my annoying AP alert app, voted in a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman. I am so pissed in epic proportions.

What makes it worse, is how happy I was just hours ago to vote against that amendment. As happy as I am angry now. ::goes to get another glass of wine::

This so-called cyber security bill aims to prevent theft of "government information" and "intellectual property" and could let ISPs block your access to websites -- or the whole Internet.

Don't let them push this back-door SOPA. Click here to demand that your lawmakers oppose CISPA.

CISPA also encourages companies to share information about you with the government and other corporations.

That data could then be used for just about anything -- from prosecuting crimes to ad placements.

And perhaps worst of all, CISPA supercedes all other online privacy protections.

Please click here to urge your lawmakers to oppose CISPA when it comes up for a vote this month.

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

The first place I go to everyday for news commentary is the Rachel Maddow Show (free video podcast available on iTunes). I have been following this woman's career for almost a decade now, since she co-hosted a morning show on Air America many years ago. A Rhodes Scholar with a Ph.D. in political science, Rachel is a lively and eloquent progressive voice. I urge everyone to check her out!

This segment from last night's show gives some great information about the SOPA protest yesterday, both on and offline, as well as the first amazing results. Several congressman have already withdrawn their support.
